To promote appropriate use of the new cell phone policy while keeping the integrity of the classroom instruction intact, the T.E.A.C.H. cell phone policy will not allow students to use their cell phones and computing devices during the school day. The use of cell phones, computing devices and portable music and entertainment systems at school is subject to the condition set forth below consistent with Chancellor’s Regulation A-413:
1
Upon entry to the building all cell phones and portable electronic devices are to be turned off and placed inside the school cell phone locker cabinet. The cell phone will be locked up and returned at the end of the student’s scheduled school day.
2
Cell phones and portable electronic devices are not permitted in the building during the administration of The New York State Regents Exams.
3
Students who use cell phones, computing devices, and/or portable music and entertainment systems in violation of any provision of the DOE’s Discipline Code, the School Based Policy, Chancellor’s regulation A-413, and/or the DOE’s Internet Acceptable Use and Safety Policy (“IAUSP”) will be subject to discipline in accordance with the guidance interventions and disciplinary responses set forth in the Discipline Code. Should a student violate the School Based policy, disciplinary action may result which may include but is not limited to deans’ referral and confiscation of the device. Additionally, student abuse of this policy will result in the student losing the privilege to bring any electronic device into the building as determined by administration.
